We are aide-less but doing OK. Won’t be doing much today except the store and maybe the playground. The cattle tank we ordered for Ru-Jun’s kiddie pool arrive with a gash in it. They are arranging a replacement to be shipped. In the mean time a piece of duct tape over the gash has solved the leak and Ru-Jun is having fun in it.
Inauspicious June 28, 2014
Things could be going better. Our maid aide is in Jamaica for a week and half (death in the family). Substitute aide called in sick with strep. Have to get another substitute for next week or we will go aide-less (which we can do). Strep needs to stay out of this house.
Swimming lessons, take II June 27, 2014
Ru-Jun started swimming lessons for the second time; the first time was about a year and a half ago. Ru-Jun gave up then because she was afraid to go under the water. She worked on that quite a few times today and did great. She liked the lesson and the play time with me after but didn’t want to get out and was crabby about things until after her nap later. She is a head taller than she was that first time around and she can now maneuver much better in the shallow end, independent of me (which she wasn’t before).
Ru-Jun had a good day as her last (half) day of school. But she was very tired from the week and took a dinner time nap. She is refreshed now.
Last week of kindergarten June 25, 2014
The year has flown by. Ru-Jun’s last day is Friday. She has half days yesterday, today, Thursday and Friday. Friday her swimming lessons and art lessons start after the half day. She’ll be taking the bus home (at noon) that day because there is no aftercare. She has only taken the bus home once or twice before.
renewed interest June 24, 2014
Ru-Jun is showing renewed interest in Scooby Doo and Pokemon. Is Star Wars next? Will Peppa Pig fade? We shall see…
Doublemint June 23, 2014
Tried Wrigley’s Doublemint gum for the first time in about 20 years today. It’s really different now. It used to be beige, now it’s white. And it tastes like candy canes now. It’s much better (it was OK back in the day but it tended to remind me of long car rides in the back seat).
