We’ll be driving up to my Mom and Dad’s on Friday June 8 and returning (in a convoy with them) on Monday June 11. That’s the plan. The only other trip we’ve taken since 2010 was last August when we went to Palmyra to get out of the way of the hurricane.
Elizabeth May 30, 2012
This evening Ru-Jun declared that the June bug on the screen door is her friend and her name is Elizabeth.
In other news, the second gymnastics lesson went well.
Asthma flareup May 29, 2012
Ru-Jun had a pretty significant flareup of her reactive airway syndrome (asthma) yesterday and was wheezing. We attacked it with the nebulizer and things got better today. We’ll nebulize tomorrow and hopefully that will do it for this time around. It will be great if this one can be handled without a Dr. visit.
Memorial day resting May 28, 2012
We were going to go to the parade over in Setauket today, but Ru-Jun started sneezing and coughing yesterday and has a (fever-less) cold. So we are staying around home today. Very warm and sunny today. Good day to be lazy. Probably do Wendy’s for lunch and then Stop n Shop.
Holiday Weekend May 26, 2012
I worked today and Ru-Jun went over to Christine’s. Barbara and Emma are coming over tomorrow for a little while. Hopefully Ru-Jun and I will go to the parade in Setauket on Monday and Emma will come with us and then we will drop Emma off with Barbara at her lab. That’s the plan, anyway. I haven’t been able to confirm online that this year’s parade is happening.
Two nights ago I had trouble sleeping. One of the things I was mulling over at 4AM was how Shian-Ren could deal with the flight back to Taiwan. Doable but not easy. No plans to do this yet. Certainly not for another year or two at least.
Sizing mayhem May 24, 2012
Figuring out sizes that fit Ru-Jun (without trying things on) is a total crapshoot. Different companies have the same sizing system but different sized garments listed as the same size. Other companies have different size systems for different garments. Things run big, or small. Stuff shrinks. Generally I try to buy large. But it is very easy to buy too large at this point. Stuff just falls off Ru-Jun when it is too big.
Gymnastics – so far so good May 23, 2012
The first Gymnastics lesson today went really well (BTW it is Gold Medal Gymnastics Club; I got the name wrong below). Ru-Jun had a little trepidation going into the gym without me but I was up in the window and she looked up and we waved to each other often. She was very good – getting in line, waiting in turn and listening to the two instructors. There were about 12 kids in her group and she was one of the smallest and the only one who had not had lessons there before. She had a lot of fun and can’t wait to go back. We’re really glad we finally got her going on this.
Becoming routine May 22, 2012
Ru-Jun is getting pretty good at getting herself to sleep. She now expects to do it every night so there pretty much is no longer a negotiation over whether or not she will try it. And the last couple of nights there have been only one or zero cases where she doesn’t think she can do it and comes down to me in the master bedroom and I have to go tuck her in again and encourage her. This is a long hoped for result, as you can tell from the pages of this blog.
