Something about Jingle Bells December 17, 2009
It seems to be the favorite Christmas song of kids everywhere. And Ru-Jun is no exception. She also likes Deck the Halls.

Guai shous and Trucks December 16, 2009
Guai shous (the Mandarin term for excavator, which literally means “monster hand”) and trucks are Ru-Jun’s current obsession. Thanks in large part to the house construction going on next door. She knows what sounds they make “vroom vroom!” and that guai shous dig really big holes. She also loves school buses, of course.

John’s band December 15, 2009
We are called Megachild (a common misspelling of Megachilid, referring to a taxonomic family of bees) and consist of Rocio (guitars), Pat (guitars), Steve (drums), and John (keyboards). We share the vocal duties. Here are some videos from a house party we played on Halloween 2009.
Our Nativity Scene December 14, 2009
Although we are not religious, we love the symbolism and aesthetics of the Nativity story (which John grew up with). The Nativity scene we set up each year now was inherited from John’s Grandma Closs. Grandma set this up on the side table in the dining room every year. It is one of our most cherished possessions and we are honored she gave it to us. We miss her dearly. She never met Ru-Jun but knew about our plans before she passed away. Ru-Jun has met and loves Great Grandma Sprague and would have loved both Grandpa Closs and Grandpa Sprague. We have lots of pictures and will be telling Ru-Jun all about them as she gets older.
Ru-Jun’s 2nd Christmas December 13, 2009
She was crawling around last year. Now she’s running around and talking constantly and singing when she isn’t talking. She says “wow” when we lift her up to look at the tree.

Hi Everybody!
We are starting this blog as a place to post pictures, videos, slide shows, and updates.
We hope everyone enjoys this!
